Northend United 1 Downpatrick 3 Saturday 4th January 2020
Northend started on the back foot but with the Christmas break just over both sides didn't seem to commit too much to the early part of the game. The Northend boys had very much most of the play but just couldn't break through. On the positive side the defensive trio of Gregg, Skelly and Hector broke up anything that came our way. Half time 0-0
With a short team talk and some encouragement from the coaches the second half started much quicker. Downpatrick also made a few changes to their squad and 5 minutes into the half a quick ball sent across the Northend goal managed to find the back of the net. A short spell of pressure from Downpatrick resulted in a number of shots at the Blues keeper, Andrej Smolinski, but the young keeper did very well to keep them out.
A defensive mix-up lead to another Downpatrick goal. With the introduction of fresh legs and a well taken corner, striker Kevin McGillian drove home a top corner shot to keep the Wee Blues in the game. Two new players to the squad this year were introduced, Patryk Dziadkowiec into mid field and Ross Bamber into nets. Both boys have come up through the club and have shown some great development in the past year to make the first team.
With fresh legs, Northend started to pile on the pressure with several shots and questionable offside decisions going against the Blues but it wasn't to be our day with a late Downpatrick goal seeing off the game.
A lot to take from this fixture for the boys that energy and a positive attitude is essential from the first whistle to the last. Full time 1-3

Northend United 2 East Belfast 1 NIBFA Plate Saturday 14th December 2019
A home match this week for Northend U12s in a tight game against East Belfast in the NIBFA plate blue ribbon competition. A change of tactics saw 4 key players on the sub bench. Charlie McCudden and Jack Patterson were working hard and chased down every loose ball and nearly went close after 16 minutes only to see a shot go narrowly wide. Northend started to settle and with Captain Jamie Gregg closing any attack East Belfast had to offer and commanding the back 3 with Ryan O'Boyle and Rueben Skelly it was a solid back line.
Aodhan McGarry was having a comfortable game on the right and found Sam Rogalski who picked up the ball just over his own half and sent a dipping shot towards the East Belfast keeper which managed to find its way through the keeper's gloves and legs. Ryan McClintock was making some great runs down the left only to see his crosses not picked up by any NE attacker. Half time 1-0
A swift team talk at half time and a change of formation saw both Kevin McGillian and Tom Duffin take to the pitch. It wasn't all going Northend's way as East Belfast upped their work rate and without challenge started to drift between the Northend players to take a few shots at goal, thankfully Andrezej Smolinski was on form and made some critical saves. A lofted ball sent into the Northend box went again unchallenged and East Belfast capitalised to slot home an easy tap in volley to make it 1-1. Tom Duffin' s change of pace in midfield started to open opportunities with several shots being stopped by the East Belfast keeper.
Kevin McGillian' s physical presence began to have an impact on the game and as the keeper tried to clear a back pass the pacey striker jumped to block the ball and score to make it 2-1. Two further changes to bring on Barti Pluta into right wing with Danny Hector into left back were decisive in locking down the remaining 10 minutes of the game and Northend held on to take the win.
A managerial target achieved this week to see the Blues through to the last 16 of the Plate which has seen those cold training sessions pay dividends. Full time 2-1

Northend United 4 Ballymoney Colts 1 NIBFA Plate Saturday 26th october 2019
It was a Cup match this week for the 2008s who were well prepared to face old foes Ballymoney. Northend opened the score line when Ryan O'Boyle with a well weighted pass to Ryan McClintock and the young winger slide home to give Northend the lead. It wasn't long before it was Sam Rogalski's turn and the confident striker drove a sweet 20-yard left foot shot into the net. The defence of Hector, Gregg and Patterson held strong throughout and took care of any attack Ballymoney had to offer. A few more chances came and went for the Wee Blues with a Danny Hector header being denied by the post and Barti Pluta shot being saved. Half time 2-0
The second half seen a few changes made, Aodhan McGarry who had a great first half picked up an injury was replaced by new boy Tom Duffin and Ruben Skelly into defence. The Wee Blues started well and it wasn't long before Tom got his first for the club, a neat piece of quick footwork outwitted the Ballymoney defence and made it 3. Ballymoney tried to make a comeback to make it 3-1 but Kevin McGillian had other ideas and after another piece of well worked passing play made it 4-1. Full time 4-1
Another great performance from the 2008s who progress into the next round. Well done boys keep up the good work.

Dromara Colts 3 Northend United 6 Saturday 19th October 2019
U12s were up against a confident Dromara in the Lisburn league this week. Danny Hector opened the scoresheet with a thundering header from a well taken corner. Dromara hit back quickly. Ryan O'Boyle had a brace of goals from inside the box and worked hard to convert both. Dromara on 2 occasions outsmarted the Blues defence to bring the game level but it was Northend who dominated the game from there.
Some great passing football from Aodhan McGarry and Ryan McClintock on each wing and confidence in attack from Kevin McGillian saw Sam Rogalski scoop up a loose ball from a corner to head it over the line. As Northend continued to exert pressure, Barti Pluta drove a smashing shot which was too much for the Dromara Keeper. The defence of Hector, Skelly and Gregg now had the line locked tight. Charlie McCudden chased a slow back pass to outpace the Dromara defenders and neatly stroked it across the line. Full time 3-6
A great win the Wee Blues who are now seeing the benefits of the training and fitness drills paying off.

Northend United vrs Lisburn Youth Saturday 7th September 2019
Northend U12s United started their new season with great enthusiasm. A well fought first half saw the boys hold off a well drilled Lisburn youth team 1/0. The second half started with great pace and an opening goal from Kevin McGillian got the wee blues off the mark. A few errors however gave easy opportunities for Lisburn to rapidly increase the score line to 5/1. A few lessons the team need to learn identified will quickly be put right for next time. The score line however did not reflect the flow of the game, NE dug deep and opened up the play. A Jack Patterson cross into the box was well controlled and neatly finished by Sam Rogalski. The game finished well and the boys showed great heart to chase right to the end. A credit to the club.
