Lurgan Town 0 Northend United 1 Saturday 17th November 2018

This game started at a very fast pace, with Northend slow to the ball for the first 5 minutes but then took over the possession of the ball winning their tackles and keeping the ball. The Blues were on top of their game moving the ball very fast and making great runs in behind Lurgan defence. The Mid-Ulster side's defence and keeper was very busy trying to keep the Blues out. Northend got a couple of shots away but the Lurgan keeper was hard to beat. In the 20th minute, Charlie McIlhatton played a lovely ball between the Lurgan defenders and Calvin Termonia ran in, picked up the ball and hit a driving shot which the keeper saved but made no mistake knocking in the rebound. Northend got their deserved goal with the front three of Greer, Termonia and Maguire making great runs in behind Lurgan defence while McDonald and McIlhatton continued to run the midfield and playing balls into great areas. Half time 0-1

Gary Kenny replaced Jackson Greer in the striker's role and Peter Finnegan replaced Mark Campbell. Northend started the half in the same way, controlling the game and stretching Lurgan all over the pitch but unfortunately could not score. Termonia went close again for Northend. Lurgan went chasing the game, going long with a number of passes but the Blues defence of McNeil, Bell and Finnegan dealt with every ball. Lurgan got a few free kicks but Northend stood strong hit on the counter with Gary Kenny making a driving run hitting a good shot but again keeper made a great save. Lurgan moved their big centre back into midfield to try get a hold off the game but McDonald and McIlhatton continued to win their battles. With 3 regulars missing due to school transfer tests, this game was always going to be an uphill battle. Indeed, Bell had a good chance to make it 1 nil but the Oxford defender got the block on it. Robert Crooks had a near miss with a great header from a Northend corner. Billy McNeil made it 1 nil after 42 minutes with a great curling strike which beat the Oxford keeper.
The referee made a mistake and gave Oxford a free kick from the edge of the box, which they duly dispatched to level the score on 48th minute. Northend kept driving forward for the last couple of minutes but couldn't get the winner unfortunately. Full time 1-1
