Wee Blues started off on the front foot with Lewis McDonald opening the scoring on the third minute as Robert Crooks done a lovely flick ball across the box McDonald sliding in knocking ball into the net. Northend extended the lead on 12 minutes when Billy McNeill headed in from a corner.
A long ball out over the top caught Northend out as the Ballyclare winger knocked the ball over Dylan Glass' head. Ballyclare added a second goal with a carbon copy of the first. Peter Finnegan got hurt and Calvin Termania replaced him and nearly gave the Wee Blues the lead again as he turned beat his man and struck a lovely shot hitting underside off the bent cross bar. Half time 2-2

Gary Kenny and Oliwer Maka came on at the break.  Northend increased the pressure after the break with some lovely play. Crooks and McDonald dominated middle of the park while the front three of Termonia, Kenny and Maguire caused the Ballyclare defenders all sorts of problems. Termonia made it 3-2 with a lovely strike into the bottom corner, before McDonald made it 4 with a lovely 1-2 move with Gary Kenny. Kenny then made it 5 with a strong bursting run through the middle shrugging 2 defenders off. The same player nearly made it 6, when clean through on goal as keeper apprehended him just outside the penalty box. Jackson Greer came on in a striking role and nearly added to the score as Maguire sent a ball across the box, he just miss-kicked the ball and sent it wide. Full time 2-5

Northend United 1 St Mary's 2  NIBFA Cup   Saturday 20th October 2018

Northend should have been two up in first half but couldn't get their shots on target or didn't work the keeper hard enough. Calvin Termania made it 1 nil from a free kick. Half time 1-0

The second half was more of the same with Northend dominating play and not shooting. St Mary's made it 1-1 from a free kick. With one minute to go and with Northend looking for a winning goal, a long ball over the top from St Marys and their striker made no mistake pushing the ball past Glas in the Blues nets. Northend had two good chances to level the scores in the last few seconds but wasn't to be their day. Full time 1-2

Northend United 0 Downpatrick 0   Saturday 13th October 2018

Northend played very well from the whistle in this match. The Downpatrick keeper was forced to make saves to keep score level. Northend had 4 good shots on target but Downpatrick keeper dealt with them. Half time 0-0

The Blues made a few changes at the break to freshen things up. Bell and McNeill were solid at the back not letting Downpatrick have a shot. Again, Northend dominated play but could not get the ball in net. A throughball from Mark Campbell left Gary Kenny only the keeper to beat but he made a good save. Lewis McDonald was constantly getting in behind the Downpatrick defence squaring the ball across the penalty box but nobody could finish. Robert Crooks made a great run in only keeper to beat but again he made a great save.
A timely move by the Northend boys saw Matthew Bell slip the ball to McDonald who drove the ball across the box, where Crooks' first-time shot was the keeper who then recovered to also save the rebound from Gary Kenny.
Towards the end of the game, another great ball over the top from Charlie McIlhatton left Kenny clean through but he was blown offside. Full time 0-0

Banbridge Lions 1 Northend United 2    Saturday 6th October 2018

Northend started the match on the front foot moving the ball about and putting pressure on Banbridge from the whistle. Northend missed a few chances and the game was still level until The Blues were award a free kick 18 yards out. Calvin Termania stepped up and hit a bullet of a strike into the top corner of the net, giving the Banbridge keeper no chance. Two minutes before the half Banbridge levelled the score with a great strike from well outside the area. Northend keeper Dylan Glass got the tips to it but unfortunately could not keep the ball out. Half time 1-1

With a number of missed chances in first half Northend made two changes, bringing Clodagh Maguire on and moving Lewis McDonald to the striking position. Mark Campbell came on as right wing back and Robert Crooks moving into the middle of the park. Northend controlled the game, creating chances and it was only a matter of time before they took the lead.
A great piece of play came as Maguire received the ball on half way line where she turned, beat her marker and sent a lovely throw ball into McDonald. The young striker left his marker in his shadow as he drove between the 2 central defenders and driving a low shot into the far corner off the net for a super finish. Termania missed an easy chance in at back post to make it 3 and McNeill headed another just over the bar, as the Blues went looking for more. McDonald made way for Jackson Greer to come on up top and he went close with another chance for the Blues. Full time 1-2

Northend United 2 Warrenpoint Town 2 Saturday 29th September 2018

With no subs, this was always going to be tough game for the Blues. The team formation was changed going 2-3-3 which the boys loved and adapted very well.
First half Warrenpoint were shaky and Northend were playing some lovely football with a fast pace. Northend should have been 3 up at half time but Greer who was playing up front could not make the most off some great balls into him. Half time 0-0

The second half was played at a very fast pace and end to end stuff with some lovely football from both teams. Lewis McDonald moving to the centre midfield and Robert Crooks moving into right midfield for Northend.
Warrenpoint were playing their strikers sitting on top of Northend's two defenders and trying long balls over the top. It was from one of these that they took the lead on 35th minutes. Lewis McDonald and Robert Crooks were making some great driving runs from midfield, stretching the Warrenpoint defence. Billy McNeil and Matthew Bell were working hard to contain the long balls under pressure from Warrenpoint's strikers, while Gary Kenny and Peter Finnegan were breaking up play and making good runs at the Warrenpoint defence.
Northend drew level when after the ball was won in Northend's own half by Crooks, he played in McDonald, who played a return ball with Gary Kenny who crossed for McDonald to slide the ball into the Warrenpoint net on 41st minute.
Almost immediately, Warrenpoint hit long ball from the centre, which McIlhatton saved initially but the Warrenpoint Town striker followed up and scored. Northend again did not stop and keep driving on with Robert Crooks picking up a goal to equalise on 45th minute.  Full time 2-2

Man of the Match: Matthew Bell just edged it not putting a foot wrong.

Northend United 1 Lurgan Town 4     Saturday 22nd September 2018

Northend started this match on the front foot, putting pressure on Lurgan Town from the start, causing the Lurgan back line a series of problems. Against the run of play in the 8th minute, Lurgan hit a speculative long range shot from their half, scoring the first goal. However, Northend kept knocking on the door. Lurgan were awarded a free-kick 5 yards from the Northend box which Jackson Greer, in the Blues nets, saved the shot but unfortunately stepped back over the line to gives Lurgan a two-goal advantage. Half Time 0-2

Northend made a few changes at half time, with Lewis McDonald dropping into midfield, Gary Kenny coming on in the striking role and Charlie McIlhatton going into nets. Northend controlled the game from the whistle, as Lurgan struggled getting out of their half. Mark Campbell came of injured and Matthew Bell dropped into right back and Dylan Glass came on for Clodagh Maguire as she took a kick to the stomach. With Crooks and McDonald now pulling the strings in midfield and the Northend wide players and striker having numerous chances to score, the Lurgan keeper was outstanding saving shots and very quick to clear his line.
Northend scored a good goal from a McDonald corner, when Robert Crooks bicycle kicked the ball and Billy McNeill met it with a bullet header into the corner of the Lurgan net. Game on! And it looked like Northend would pull level but the Lurgan keeper stood strong saving 3 or 4 more chances.
Northend were caught on the Lurgan counter attack with a third goal which looked marginally offside. Lurgan got another free kick and scored a well worked goal. Northend pushed on to the whistle but the result wasn't to be.
Lurgan had 4 chances and scored 4 goals in the match. Northend had 10 or 12 good chances to score but the Lurgan keeper had an outstanding game and Northend lacked a clinical edge to their game.

Northend United vrs Oxford Sunnyside   Saturday 15th September 2018

Northend had a slow start to this match and got punished by a team who played street wise football and put Northend under pressure from the start. Unfortunately, there was very little flowing football played in this game from the Northend players and they could not lift their game against their aggressive opponents but on plus side massive learning curve for the young players.

Oxford went up 1-0 on 5th minute from a corner. On 9th minute Lewis McDonald ran onto a through ball and was clean through, when the Oxford keeper apprehended him outside the box in a very strong challenge, only to receive a yellow card. Oxford went on to score two more before half time.

The second half was a bit better from Northend where they created more chances but wasn't their day at all. The Blues were awarded a penalty as Robert Crooks was through again on goal when he was apprehended in the box. Calvin Termania step up and made no mistake putting ball in net.

Northend United Vrs Lisburn Youth Saturday 1st September 2018

Northend started the brighter of the 2 sides playing some lovely football putting pressure on from the whistle. First goal came from a lovely delivery from McDonald corner into front post as crooks made no mistake finishing with a lovely side foot volley. Northend kept the pressure on dominating play. Half time 4-0

Northend stepped up another gear with their one-two passing and balls in between defenders. Northend defence was solid with bombing runs from the full backs and McNeill playing lovely out let balls to the wingers where they terrorised the Lisburn defence. Crooks and Bell dominated the midfield and again was picking McDonald out up front. Massive team performance after no preseason friendlies.

Manager Alex McDonald, was very impressed with their link up play and energy on and off the ball. Billy Mc Neill and Matthew Bell both had super debuts with Bell picking up 3 goals.

Goal scorers on the day Lewis McDonald (3), Matthew Bell (3), Calvin Termonia (2), Clodagh Maguire and Robert Crooks
