Northend United 5 Ards Academy 1 Friday 19th December 2025

This week the team played Ards Academy on a cold and windy Friday night at Aquinas School Belfast in the final game of 2025. The previous two games had been tight affairs so the boys started brightly from the whistle attacking with pace on a narrow pitch that suited Ards Academy. The first goal came when Pauric’s free kick wasn’t dealt with by the keeper and Odhran was on hand to finish at close range. Ards continue with the long ball and this was causing confusion with our back four and they equalised soon after. Half time 1-1

The second half saw the introduction of Ryan and Jack into midfield and the team started to get the ball down and pass causing problems, goals from Lucas, Kian and Jack x 2 would seal the win. I nice way to finish the year. Full time 5-1

Northend United 2 Lisburn Rangers 3 Friday 12th December 2025

This week the team played Lisburn Rangers FC 2008, a repeat of last week’s Cup Semi-final on a lovely Friday night in Jordanstown. Keen to avenge the defeat in the Cup last week the team started brightly and created numerous chances that they could not convert. It was Lisburn Rangers FC who would take the lead against the run of play but this was quickly equalised by Aaron. Despite creating more chances it would be Lisburn Rangers FC who would take the lead into the second half. Half time 1-2

Changes up top at the start of the second half would cause more issues but again it was Lisburn Rangers FC who would get a third with a long ball over the top finished smartly by the striker. Aaron pulled back one after Odhran was up ended in the box and was unlucky in the last minute when his flick hit the post with the keeper rooted to the spot. Full time 2-3

Northend United 2 Lisburn Rangers 5 Friday 5th December 2025

This week the team played Lisburn Rangers on a cold and windy Friday night at Avoneill Belfast in the Cup Semi final. The boys started brightly from the whistle attacking with pace on a narrow pitch that suited Lisburn Rangers. It was Lisburn Rangers who would race into a 3 nil lead as the boys struggled with the long ball. Pauric was able to pull one back before half time to give some hope.Half time 1-3

The second half saw the introduction of Sam into midfield and the team started to get the ball down and pass causing Lisburn Rangers problems, but the goals would not come. Lisburn Rangers scored another tw0 before Jude pulled a consolation goal back. Full time 2-5

Northend United 3 St Marys 0 Friday 28th November 2025

This week the team played St Mary’s 2008 on a lovely Friday night at the very impressive Greenisland Stadium. On a high from last weeks performance v Bangor YM the boys started from the first minute and never looked back. Earlier goals from Pauric and Aaron set the tone of the game. Despite further chances the game would stay at 2-0. Half time 2-0

The second half St Mary’s 2008 came out of the blocks quickly but the back four of Jack, Aodhan, Shay and Lucas snuffed out the few chances they created. The third would finally come from a corner when Shay Butler finished with a header. Full time 3-0

Northend United 8 Bangor YM 5 Friday 21st November 2025

This week the team played top of the league Bangor YM FC on a wet Friday night at the Blanchflower Stadium in Belfast. With 7 players missing the boys started brightly from the whistle attacking with pace but it was Bangor YM who would take the lead when a goal was scored from a corner. A great defence splitting pass from Aaron played in Ryan who smartly finished in the corner to make it 1-1. In a first half of goals Bangor YM would score a further 2 and with further goals from Ryan and one from Jude it would ended 3-2 at Half time Half time 3-2

The second half Bangor YM came out of the blocks quickly and turned the game around to 3-5. This wasn’t the end of the goals as the boys kicked into gear again and finish the game with an 8-5 win.

Northend United 4 Saintfield United 0 Friday 14th November 2025

This week the team played Saintfield United FC on a cold and windy Friday night at Crumlin. The boys started brightly from the whistle attacking with pace and it wasn’t long before they would take the lead. Great work by Shane and Aaron on the right allowed Aaron to cut into the box before being fouled for a pen which he cooly converted. The second quickly followed when the wind deceived the Saintfield United FC keeper allowing Shane to finish. Half time 2-0

The second half was against the wind but now withm the introduction of the returning Pauric and Anto the boys caused even more problems for the Saintfield United FC defence. Neat build up play allowed Anto to score before Ryan finished the game off with a run and smart finish. Full time 4-0

This week the team played Ballynure OB’s FC on a wet Friday night at Crumlin. The boys started brightly from the whistle attacking with pace and it wasn’t long before they would take the lead. A great defence splitting pass from Aaron played in Ryan who smartly finished in the corner. They lead was short lived as a mistake from the goalie allowed the Ballynure striker to finish. The lead was quickly restored when Ryan got his second goal and a finish from outside the box from Odhran made it 3 before Half time 3-0

The second half Ballynure came out of the blocks quickly and drew the game back to 3-3 and if it wasn’t for a great save in the last minute from Alex they would have secured the win. Full time 3-3

Northend United 4 Lisburn Rangers 4 Saturday 25th October 2025

This week the team played Lisburn Rangers FC on cold, windy Saturday morning at the Billy McNeill pitches. The first half conditions suited Lisburn Rangers FC who finished the half 4-1 up, with Shane giving the team a lifeline for the second half. Half time 1-4

The second half saw a huge effort from the lads to get back into the game. Poor discipline from Lisburn Rangers FC giving away two penalties and a smart finish from Odhran was enough to earn a point. Full time 4-4

Northend United 2 Ards FC Academy 0 Friday 17th October 2025

Friday night saw a repeat of last years Cup Final v Ards Academy 2008 under the floodlights at the 3g at Mount Pleasant . The first half was limited to a few chances with both defences working hard. The best chance of the half fell to Ryan but a good save from the Ards keeper keep the game 0-0. Half time 0-0

The second half saw the introduction of Aaron and Ross which gave the Ards team more problems as we started to take control of the game. The ball broke to Ryan in midfield who beat three players before crossing to Shane at the back post to finish. The second followed soon after, when determined work from Wiktor, allowed Sam to cross to Aaron to finish smartly. Full time 2-0

Northend United 7 Ballymena United 1 Friday 28th September 2025

Friday night saw another local derby v Ballymena United under the floodlights at the new 3g at the Showgrounds. The bumper crowd were treated to an occasion last week and this was no different. From the first whistle the boys went straight at Ballymena and never looked back. With early first half goals from Shay B and Shane. Ballymena pulled one back when a long ball wasn’t dealt with allowing the Ballymena striker to finish. From then on the defence of Wiktor, Aodhan, Shay Butler and Shea were on top cutting out any few chances Ballymena created from their long balls. Half time 2-1

The second half started with an early goal after a great ball from Aodhan, was crossed by Ryan to Shane to finish again at the back post. The introduction of Kian up top caused more issues for Ballymena and it wasn’t long before he got on the score sheet and played a smart ball through the defence for Shane to complete his hat-trick. Shane quickly added his fourth from the penalty spot to seal the win and a top team performance. Full time 7-1

Northend United 2 Ballymena United 2 Friday 19th September 2025

Friday night was a chance for a local derby v Ballymena United under the floodlights at the new 3g at the Showgrounds. The bumper crowd were treated to an occasion with both teams starting brightly with some great passages of play. There was no space as the battle hotted up in the middle of the field. Two quick yellows meant that we were down to 10 men with 50 odd minutes left to play. However, the defence of Wiktor, Aodhan, Shay Butler and Lucas Barnett were on top cutting out any chances Ballymena created from their long balls. In a half that the majority of the play was in the midfield Sam, Odhran, Ryan and Shea tried to get the ball to Niko then Kian but it was difficult. Half time 0-0

The second half saw the introduction of Aaron into the midfield which created more opportunities, but it was Ballymena who would strike first, when the ball fell nicely to their striker to finish. The team kept creating and it wasn’t long when the equaliser would come when Aaron finished into the roof of the net from the edge of the box. The second soon followed when Aaron played Kian through and with three defenders around him, he managed to finish. The team battled hard to hold onto the lead but in the dying minutes it was Ballymena who would equalise to finish the game 2-2 Full time 2-2

Northend United 0 18th Newtownabbey 2 Friday 5th September

Friday night brought the start of the u18 league in the SBYL with a game v 18th Newtownabbey under the lights on Crumlin 3G. Both teams started brightly with some great passages of play.

However, the defence of Wiktor, Aodhan, Shay Butler and Shea were on top cutting out any chances 18th Newtownabbey created. In a half that the majority of the play was in the midfield Sam, Jamie, Ryan and Shane tried to get the ball to Aaron and Jude but the final pass always seemed to be cut out. Half time 0-0

The second half saw the introduction of Odhran into the midfield which created more opportunities, but the goal didn’t seem to come. 18th Newtownabbey scored from a deflection at a corner but chances to equalise came and gone and it was 18th Newtownabbey who would again score in the last minute from another deflected corner. Big thanks to Pearse Devlin, Ruari Hamill and Pearse Neeson who stepped up from the u17 squad. Full time 0-2
